State Rep. Donny Lambeth, R-Forsyth, said he plans to co-sponsor a bill in the N.C. House that would convert the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools to the state’s first charter-school district, aiming to reduce state regula-tory control and allow more innovation by administrators and teachers.

“I believe local school districts need more flexibility,” said Lambeth, “and I will look at a bill that provides the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County (Schools) with the same flexibility as charter schools.”
